อย่าตีตนไปก่อนไข้ ภาษาอังกฤษพูดว่าอย่างไร

cross the bridge when you come to it
source: paraphen.blogspot.com

อย่าตีตนไปก่อนไข้ เป็นสำนวนไทย แปลว่าอย่าวิตกกังวลกับเหตุการณ์ที่ยังไม่ได้เกิดขึ้น ซึ่งบางที่เหตุการณ์นั้นอาจจะไม่เกิดขึ้นก็ได้ (Don't worry too much about thing that hasn't happened yet, maybe that thing will never happen)

Don't beat yourself before you get a fever เขาก็อาจจะงงก็ได้

จริงๆแล้วในภาษาอังกฤษเขาก็มีสำนวน ที่แปลได้ใกล้เคียง อย่าตีตนไปก่อนไข้ อยู่เหมือนกันครับนั่นก็คือ

Don't cross the bridge till/until you come to it.

แปลตรงๆตามตัวอักษร (literally) ก็ประมาณว่า ถ้าไม่เจอสะพานก็อย่าพึ่งไปข้ามมัน (ไม่เจอแล้วจะไปข้ามได้ใง make sense เหมือนกันเนาะ)

คำประเภทคำอ่านความหมาย
bridge (N.)บริดจ์สะพาน
cross (V.)ครอสข้าม
till/until (Conj.)ทิลจนกระทั้ง

cross the bridge when you come to it
cross the bridge
when you come to it
Put them in sentences

Do not cross the bridge until you come to it. You don't know for sure that you are going to fail the test. Worrying won't do you any good.
อย่าตีตนไปก่อนไข้เลย ยังไม่แน่เลยว่าแกจะสอบตก กังวลไปก็ไม่ช่วยอะไร

Some people tend to cross the bridge before they come to it.
คนบางคนชอบที่จะตีตนไปก่อนไข้

Don't worry too much, you can't fix the problem that has not happened. Do cross the bridge when you come to it.
อย่ากังวลไปเลย เราไม่สามารถจะแก้ปัญหาที่ยังไม่เกิดได้ จงแก้ปัญหาตอนที่มันเกิดแล้ว

It is good practice to cross the bridge before we come to it. However, it is also a good practice to be prepared for the foreseen problem.
มันเป็นการดีที่เราจะไม่ตีตนไปก่อนไข่ อย่างไรก็ตามการเตรียมตัวรับกับปัญหาที่รู้ว่าจะเกิดขึ้นก็เป็นสิ่งที่ควรทำ (นะครับ)

  1. If you don't thoroughly check your language, it can be a case of the blind leading the blind. The phrase "trend to" is an example of a glaring error.
