Explanation In English

There is a saying in Thai meaning "to ​supply or give something to a ​place or ​person that already has a lot of that ​particular thing" and this saying has the very same meaning with idiom in English "to carry or take or sell or bring coals to Newcastle". This evuivalent version of Thai saying is "เอามะพร้าวห้าวไปขายสวน" ("Owl Ma Prao How Pai Kai Saun")  literally meaning to take ripe coconuts and sell them at the coconut garden or to sell ripe coconuts to the coconut farmer.

The longer version of the Thai saying is "เอามะพร้าวห้าวไปขายสวน เอาแป้งนวลไปขายชาววัง" ("Owl Ma Prao How Pai Kai Saun  Own Paeng Naun Pai Kai Chao Wang") meaning to take coconuts and sell them at the coconut garden and to sell face powder to the ones who live in the palace. This also has the very same meaning with the short version. This long version has rhyme words "Saun" , which is a garden, and "Paeng Naun", which is face powder.  However, you will hear the short version more often.

In the proverb both in Thai and English, the comparison are done with coconuts and coals.  In English the, comparison is done with coals but in Thai the comparison is done with coconuts, a ripe coconut. However, they're very close in the meaning and usage.
