พบกันอีกเช่นเคยครับ กับเกร็ดความรู้ภาษาอังกฤษ ดูเหมือนว่าเรายังคุยเรื่องเวลายังไม่จบนะครับ ยังมีสำนวนเรื่องเวลาที่น่าสนใจอีกพอสมควร ดู 3 ตอนย้อนหลังได้ที่

from time to time มีความหมายว่า บางครั้งบางคราว มีความหมายเดียวกันกับคำเหล่านี้ครับ

• irregularly
• now and then
• occasionally
• sometimes 
• not predictably

I have been bothered from time to time by pain in my stomach. Recently, I have had it more frequently and it turned out that the cause of it was from the kidney stone.

อาการปวดท้องรบกวนผมเป็นบ้างครั้งบางคราว หลังๆนี้ผมรู้สึกปวดบ่อยขึ้นและผมมาเจอทีหลังว่ามันเกิดจากนิ่วในไตนี่เอง

เพื่อนๆหลายๆคนมาเยี่ยมเราที่บ้านเป็นครั้งคราว

สำนวน to be in the right place at the right time น่าจะแปล ว่าอยู่ถูกที่ถูกเวลา (to be in the place where an opportunity is being offered)  ผมเข้าใจว่าสำนวนนี้น่าจะมีความหมายเดียวกันหรืออย่างน้อยใกล้เคียงกับ สำนวน be in the right spot at the right time คือมีความหมายว่า ว่าอยู่ถูกที่ถูกเวลา เช่นกัน คอว่า spot ในที่นี้ก็น่าจะเหมือนคำว่า place นั่นเอง  (spot = จุด place = ที่)

The secret of success is being in the right place at the right time.

ความลับของการการประสบผลสำเร็จก็คืออยู่ให้ถูกที่ถูกเวลา

a matter of time สำนวนนี้แปลว่า ขึ้นอยู่กับเวลา ไม่ช้าก็เร็ว  เมื่อเราพูดถึงเหตุการณ์อะไรก็แล้วแต่ที่คิดว่าจะเกิดแน่นอนถูกยังไม่ได้เกิดขึ้นตอนนี้ เราสามารถใช้คำว่า a matter of time ได้เลย คำนี้บางบริบท หรือ context อาจจะใกล้เคียวกับคำว่า sooner or later ก็น่าจะได้

As you sow, so shall you reap. That bad guy will get what he has done for sure, it is just a matter of time.
หว่านพื่ชเช่นไรย่อมได้รับผลเช่นนั้น ไอ้คนชัาวคนนั้นต้องได้รับผลที่มันก่อแน่นอน ไม่ช้าก็เร็ว

สำนวน puts trousers on one leg at a time ใช้ในกรณีที่อยากจะพูดว่า คนที่เราพูดถึงก็คือคนธรรมดาสามัญนั้นเอง ไม่ได้วิเศษวิโสไปกว่าใคร บางที่อาจจะเพิ่ม just like everybody/everyone else  หรือ just like the rest of us หรือ just like you and me ต่อท้ายเพื่อเน้นขึ้นไปอีกว่า เหมือนคนอื่นๆนั้นแหละ
